Collection: The Law of Assumption

Most people, I assume, have heard of the Law of Attraction. The movie, 'The Secret' has brought it to the main stage, for all of us to understand.

These concepts, however, have been around since the beginning of time. To put it simply, the Law of Attraction is part of the Law of Vibration which states that we can attract anything we want by resonating at the same vibrational frequency as our desires. So, in essence, the Law of Attraction states that like attracts like and that we draw to us people, places, and events that are vibrational matches. Unfortunately, we do not attract what we want, we attract who we are. So, what's a person to do to get a different reality around here??
Well, enter The Law of Assumption.

The Law of Assumption is based on the principles of the universal concept or idea that nothing exists outside of your consciousness. This means we have the power to create and shape our reality.

Consciousness, therefore, is the only reality. Reality is the reflection of consciousness. So, no use trying to change the 3D reality. Well, you can try, however, you will have meager results. We must change SELF first! If you want abundance, you must first feel and assume you are abundant and then you get to have the experience of abundance.
The best explanations of these concepts and ideas come from the legendary mystic Neville Goddard. Neville believed that God is the human imagination.

We are Gods of our reality, and we are the operant power.

Through our imagination, we create our reality. If you stop and think, nothing is created without first thought in your imagination.
Neville Goddard used the Bible as a tool to explain metaphysical concepts and illustrate the power of conscious creation. He believed that when we make an assumption and power it with our full belief, the world is compelled to meet our expectations. Whereas the Law of Attraction suggests you match a vibration to have the universe bring it to you, the Law of Assumption states you and the universe are one.

'Stop believing in God and start believing as God'. -Neville Goddard

What you put attention on, you give life. What you take away attention from falls away. According to Neville, we manifest our reality in the States (of Consciousness) that we dwell in every day. Neville believed creation is finished. That we are not actually creating but rather aligning to a reality.

We live in a quantum universe. And there are multiple parallel realities.

And there are multiple versions of you. In one you are rich; in another, you are swimming in lack and unable to pay your bills. Our default behavior is what determines that reality. If you keep speaking of lack, you will experience it. It is The Law! What you speak off, you call forth.

One of Neville Goddard's best works was his teachings on Revision. You can revise anything you have experienced in the past and it will have an impact on your future.

The future and past do not exist only the present moment does.
Another one of his key concepts was cultivating a strong self-concept. No one to change but self.

'Change the conception of yourself and you will automatically change the world in which you live. Do not try to change people, they are messengers telling you who you are. Revalue yourself and they will conform to the change' - Neville Goddard

Ok, so that's all fine and dandy, but how do we take these universal concepts and make them work for us in a practical way and use them in our day-to-day lives?
Well, the first step is to understand we are always manifesting! It's not just a new-age term that is getting a lot of buzz. So, everything you have in your life you've created some way, somehow. We do this by speaking, thinking, focusing, vibrating, and emoting.

You see, everything we say and do is being recorded in our subconscious mind.

All our limiting beliefs are stored there. I'm not good enough, I can't do this, have that, the person or situation has power over me, and on and on and on. So, what you'll need to do is give your subconscious mind a new script! Luckily for us, Neville Goddard made it super simple. He suggests using SATS. A state akin to sleep as he calls it, is when the subconscious mind is extremely receptive to suggestion. This is when our conscious mind (beta) shuts down and slips into theta before entering a sleep state. This is when you want to imprint your wants and desires into your subconscious mind as it will accept its command.

The whole premise of the Law of Assumption and Neville Goddard's teachings is assuming you already have what you desire!

You will have to feel as though you already are that person. The one that has their desire. Because in a different reality, you already do. Most of these teachings are really about convincing ourselves. That's the work necessary. Also, persistence is key. It might take a minute to change that dang reality, but we can do this. The problem seems to be that it's so enticing to marinate in all our woes and troubles. By sharing our lives with others there is a sense of camaraderie, and we find comfort in getting things off our chest so to speak. Unfortunately, all we are doing is recreating the same stories over and over again, instead of allowing new experiences into our lives, we hold on to these stories and nothing seems to change. A little bit of tweaking is required. But the end results can be magical!

Let's recap:
  • GOD is the human imagination
  • Imagination creates reality
  • You are the GOD / GODDESS of your reality
  • Your assumptions create reality
  • No one to change but self
  • You are the operant power
  • You create the rules
Now that you have all this power, what are you going to do with that? Hopefully, live your best life!
Using the Law of Assumption (a quick overview)
  • Define what you want. Getting clear of what you want is essential. You can use scripting or journaling.
  • Ask yourself how it would feel to have my desire. Get into that feeling state of the wish fulfilled. Immerse yourself in that experience. Use your senses and add as much detail as possible. Do SATS as often as needed.
  • Assume you already have it and that it is done! Remember in another reality, you already do. The only trick is to convince yourself. Once you do, it's golden!
Knowing who you are is the first step, changing your limiting beliefs is a bit more challenging. Fortunately, there are plenty of resources and materials out there that can give you more insight. Here are some books on Neville Goodard and The Law of Assumption.
