Self Concept

Self Concept

Self concept. It’s the way we thinks about and understands who we are. It’s our belief systems, identity and personality all wrap up in our energetic resonance. But it is also the single most important concept when it comes to the reality we create. Though we are living a 3 dimensional reality with physical experiences, everything stems from within. The way we see ourselves cultivates the choices we make and the expectations we assume mapping the trajectory of our lives. If you feel loved, you will make choices in love for yourself, continuing to fill your cup and expect respect and good outcomes. If you feel unlovable, you make choices that betray your worth and you may not even comprehend why. As a woman who is newly embracing self love, if this resonants, you are in good company. Like most messy parts of ourselves, our self concepts are shaped when we are young and impressionable. Not to fear, you have power to claim here! Rewriting the parts of our self concepts that no longer align with the life we want to create is the most loving thing we can do.

Affirmations act as our magic wand rewriting old stories of failures and dismay into a more robust and loving hero’s journey. I Am is a powerful opening phrase. I Am is a command where we get to decide who we are and revise our self concepts of the past. Taking accountability for our words overtime has profound influence on our perception of reality and ourselves. However, since everything is energy, the phrases we speak need to resonant deeply to truly evoke a shift. Neville Goddard, one great metaphysical teacher, says it’s far more powerful for your thoughts to feel natural than forced. So instead of “I Am successful”, if there isn’t any physical proof yet to validate that declaration we can affirm “I Am becoming more successful each step I take”. This subtle shift allows us to elevate our vibration in a scalable way to fortify a lasting shift, so that we can soon authentically declare “ I Am successful” without our psyche imploding quietly.

Developing a new stronger self concept is yours to unfold each day with intention. You and only you get to decide who you are and how life will treat you. For more steps in changing previous belief patterns check out our other posts.

And all the while as you are doing the work, journaling, releasing the past and allowing the future, there is a higher version of yourself that is patiently and loving waiting for you to ascend into who you are meant to be. So if you ever get lost or feel unsure of what your potential is tarot can be a wonderful guide. I simply ask the cards of few questions:

  1. What does my does my higher self already know?
  2. What old identity am I ready to outgrow?
  3. What affirmation would serve me today?
  4. How can I show myself love today?

These are some questions I like to ask to guide my reading, but there are endless possibilities of intentions to try. These cards hold profound messages and act as a bridge to a higher knowing. I find that my tarot deck is parallel to my talk therapy. Showing up with an open mind will allow the messages you need to receive into your reading. Affirm the best for yourself, and slowly and authentically elevate your self concept to usher in the reality of your dreams.
